The Ruby's Truth (ルビーの真実, Rubii no Shinjitsu?)is the second episode of The Case Files of Jeweler Richard.
Summary[]
Richard speaks several languages and meets with people of all high society. Seigi mentions he never saw an Arabian person before and asks if he's hot in his clothes. Richard corrects Seigi to be more careful with what he says and to not accidentally discriminate.
A Japanese woman enters the shop, surprised that Richard is the manager. She is rather aloof and nearly trips on her way in. She brings in a pin with diamonds encrusting it with a ruby at the center. She wants to know if it has been heated or not in the process. She forgot something on the chair and Seigi chases after her to return it. He notices she seems upset and asks if she is alright.
Richard and Seigi wonder why the heating process is important to this woman. Richard proposes that it could be because naturally bright red rubies go higher than ones that were heated, but him and Seigi agree that wanting to know its worth is more important, no matter the process it went through.
Tanimoto visits Seigi, noticing he has a mineral encyclopedia open in front of him. Turns out she knows a lot about minerals and agrees it's unusual to want to know whether or not the stone has been heated.
The woman was going under a fake name, but her surname Mami remains the same. Turns out she has been aloof to her loved ones as well. Her fiance turns up asking about her, assuming that she was having an affair with Richard. She shows up while he is at the shop and he asks her what has been troubling her.
Running after her again, Seigi prevents her from collapsing in the street. She opens up to him about a woman she loved and how she can't get over her. She left the woman, who is Akashi, and tried for a normal life by finding a husband. Loving someone of the same sex is hard in society. However, she is still unable to find happiness. She loathes herself for being unable to live out the life of a "regular" woman. Seigi tells her that he doubts there is anyone out there that truly feels normal. She quips that he should be a counselor before fainting.
It is revealed that if the stone was heated, she would marry her fiance, if not she would rethink their engagement. The ruby is unheated and worth ten million yen.
